Off Course

Jun 2018

Stranded, low on air, and rocking a jetpack that clearly failed quality assurance.

In Off Course, space isn't just empty—it’s out to get you. You’re a stranded astronaut with a propulsion system that fails constantly and usually at the worse time. Your mission is simple but frantic: blast through the void, scavenge the parts needed to fix your shuttle, and get out of there before your O2 levels hit zero.

But watch your momentum. Between the bouncy space rocks and the gravity-well black holes, space is a total hazard. Keep an eye on your quadrant map in the bottom right; getting lost is a quick way to suffocate.

The Mechanics

  • Unique Movement: You control your jetpack by firing in the opposite direction of where you want to go (mapped to Q, Z, P, and M). It takes a minute to get the hang of it, but once you do, it’s all about managing inertia.
  • The Controller: This game was built for a custom 4-button arcade rig (which is where those specific keys come from), but we’ve got full keyboard support so you can play without needing the extra hardware.

Behind the Build

Born during the Midsummer Jam 2018, Off Course was our experiment in building something fast, fun and with an arcade-style intensity. It’s tight, it’s chaotic, and it’s a lot harder than it looks. Good luck—you're going to need it.
